JAIPUR DRAPING COMPETITION - Pearl Academy Students Get Creative With Abstract Assemblage

Draping Exhibition Design Concept development on Drapes by the students of Fashion Design & Technology (FDT) programme

Pearl Academy of Fashion organized an exhibition on different style of drapes as clothing, named ‘Flirting with Fabric’. The one-day exhibition included different styles of drapes used on the fabrics and as clothing accessories for different seasons and times of the day. The objective of the exhibition was to give students an opportunity to identify and demonstrate capability in working with specialised skills and techniques in styling and use of drapes.

There were seven short listed entries for the contest and themes given to the students were Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, Art Neuveau, Pop, Dadaism, Constructivism and Assemblage. Pearl Academy faculty judged the contestants on the basis of having clear understanding of theme, selection of material as per the subject and on a creative idea that satisfies the subject aesthetically and technically.
