Born in 1976, Shillong, Shovin studied Painting from Fine Arts Dept., Assam University (Central University) Silchar, Assam and completed his Masters (M.F.A.) in 2001. After winning a scholarship from the National Research Laboratory for Conservation, he received a six-month Conservation and Restoration training from NRLC, Lucknow. He also did an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia and Graphics from C_DAC, Mohali in 2003.

He has held six solo shows with the Indian Cultural Centre Seoul, South Korea, collaboration with Indian Art Museum, Seoul, South Korea in 2011; Alchemy of Art, New Delhi in 2011; Gallery Shanti, Seoul, South Korea in 2008; an event by India Times at Oneness Center, New Delhi in 2008; Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 2006; U.T.S Art Gallery, Shillong in 2002.

He has over ten years’ experience in teaching and is currently with Pearl Academy, New Delhi. Before join Pearl, he taught Art and Graphics in the Department of Architecture, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Since August 2006 to June 2014, he conducted a summer art workshop at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi 2011, 2012 and 2013. He has also been Visiting Faculty of Art and Animation in the Department of Animation, South Delhi Polytechnic for Women, New Delhi, since August 2013 to June 2014.

He has been invited to participate in nearly 80 prestigious Group Shows in India and abroad. His awards include the LKA National Scholarship, New Delhi; Junior Research Fellowship from H.R.D, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, New Delhi; (UNESCO) N.R.L.C. Merit scholarship, Lucknow (2002); 1st and 4th All India Digital Art Exhibition A.I.F.A.C.S., New Delhi (2011 and 2014); 78th and 83rd Annual All India Art Exhibition, A.I.F.A.C.S., New Delhi (2011 and 2006),; State Award org by Art & Cultural Dept, Govt. of Meghalaya. He participated in 28 Artist’s Camp or workshops at the national and international level. His paintings, digital prints, installation, digital video are held in collections in India and abroad.
