Q: What is the eligibility criteria / entry requirements for admission?

For 3-Year/4-Year Under Graduate Pathway: 10+2, or equivalent with minimum 50% marks

For 2 Year/ 1-Year Post Graduate Pathway: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university

For 11 month certificate Programs: 10+2, or equivalent

For 2-Year Masters :

Q: Do I get an acknowledgment of form submission?

On receipt of your completed application, an acknowledgement email will be sent to you. This acknowledgement email is not a confirmation that you are eligible for the further screening process. It mainly confirms that your application has been received. Application form submission status can be checked at www.pearlacademy.com also.


Q: What is the pattern of admission test?

Stage 1: Written Admission Test GPT and DAT

General Proficiency Test (GPT) evaluates a candidate’s proficiency in the English language, Logical reasoning, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Basic Mathematics, etc.

Design Aptitude Test (DAT) evaluates a candidates’ aptitude for creativity, drawing, design ability, power of observation and imagination, sensitivity to environment and communication skills.

Stage 2: Personal Interview (including portfolio evaluation / material handling skill test for Design streams).

All candidates are required to undergo a Personal Interview after the Written Admission Test at their respective Entrance Examination centre /Personal Interview centres mentioned on their Admit Card.

For MAFT Pathway: Selection is based on personal interview & portfolio evaluation

Q: How will I get the Admit card?

The Admit Cards will be available Online with complete details of the date, time and venue of the Written Test and/or Personal Interview normally 4 days before the Entrance Examination for each admission cycle on pearlacademy.com


Q: Is there another criterion where I can qualify for admissions without giving entrance exams?

Yes, if you have qualified for following tests:-

Waiver of Written Test (GPT)

Applicants of PG Pathway are entitled for waiver of General Proficiency Test (GPT) provided they have registered a minimum score as mentioned below. Such applicants will be called for Personal Interview directly subject to submission of valid scores.

The minimum scores for MAT / CAT / GMAT for want of waiver of GPT only shall be as under:
1. Minimum MAT score of 500 or above
2. Minimum CAT score of 60 percentile or above
3. Minimum GMAT score of 450 or above

The applicant must have appeared in the MAT 2016 or 2017 / CAT in 2016 (prior to the date of written test). GMAT scores of last 5 years will be considered. For details, please refer the Application Form.

Waiver of Written Test (GPT) & Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

Applicants of PG Pathway (only Design streams) and UG Interior Design, Product Design Pathway are entitled for waiver of General Proficiency Test (GPT) & Design AptitudFor MAFT e Test (DAT) if they have appeared for CEED 2016 and NATA 2016 respectively. Such applicants will be called for a Personal Interview directly subject to submission of valid scores.

• CEED held in 2016 (applicable only for PG Design pathway)
• NATA held in 2016 (applicable only for UG Interior Design, and UG Product Design pathway )

Q: What if I am staying abroad and can’t appear for Test/interviews?

Written test / Interviews are mandatory and Pearl Academy facilitates written exams at the candidate’s school / college (with prior agreement and approval), telephonic and online personal interviews via Skype / video conferencing for the international / overseas applicants.


Q: What is the admission criterion for international students?

A few seats are reserved for foreign nationals. Pearl Academy facilitates online personal interviews via Skype / video conferencing for the international / overseas applicants are conducted. Portfolio Evaluation if required may also be conducted.

Q: What if I don’t get admission in any of the Admission Cycles?

Q: What if I don’t get my 1st choice of pathway / campus?

In the event you don’t get your 1st choice of pathway / campus, you will be offered your 2nd choice based on your rank / merit list. You may also apply afresh for the next Admission Cycle.


Q: Can I get admission with advanced standing / credit transfer for other studies I’ve done?

Yes. You may apply for lateral admission to Pearl Academy via Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) entry. Pearl’s APL Admission Panel will carry out an assessment of your learning outcomes for lateral entry / admission and you will be required to appear for an interview.


Q: Can I block my seat through the Industry Sponsored category?

Yes, however, the Industry quota seats are limited. Please email us at admissions@pearlacademy.com for more details. Industry Sponsored candidates will be required to pay a higher fee.


Q: What is the process to get my fee refunded?

If a successful candidate does not join and applies for refund, the fees deposited by the student shall be refunded after deductions as per Academy’s Refund Policy.

No refund will be entertained for the amount paid for purchase of the application form / prospectus.


Q: What if I have changed my mind again and want to come back after I got the refund, do I have to appear for the Written Test and Personal interview again?

Candidates selected in either of the Admission Cycles are not required to appear again for Written Test and Personal interview. They have to request for re-admission and upon acceptance. They can deposit the full fee again to re-join. Such candidates may be offered admission to a pathway based on availability of seats at the sole discretion of the Academy.

Q: When does the academic year begin?

Q: What qualifications do I get after studying Undergraduate Courses from Pearl? What is the validation?

Pearl Academy enrolls students for pathways of Undergraduate Diplomas that culminates in a Professional Diploma at the end of 3rd/4th year as per the pathway chosen. On successful completion, a student gets Professional Diploma from Pearl Academy, which has been recognized and honored by the creative industry for the past 23 years.

All students are also registered at no extra cost for an IGNOU degree. The completion of this degree will be facilitated and will be a part of their timetable. This is a UGC recognized degree and is valid in India and internationally. Read more about IGNOU here pearlacademy.com/admissions

On successful completion of the Professional Diploma at Pearl, students may submit their transcripts to Torrens University (Australia) and be awarded a degree in Australia. This is based on international recognition of Pearl Academy curriculum and quality assurance process.

Pearl Academy is also affiliated with Sector Skills Councils under National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) an initiative of Ministry of Skills, Government of India for following certifications. Students will have the added option for availing these qualifications. More certifications will be added.

Q: Is this model as per UGC guidelines?

Pearl Academy is not offering degrees and doesn’t fall under preview of UGC or AICTE.


Q: What qualifications do I get after studying Post Graduate Courses from Pearl? What is the validation for the same?

On successful completion of PG level pathway at Pearl, a student will be awarded Post Graduate diploma in the chosen field. All PG Diploma pathway offered by Pearl Academy are validated by Domus Academy, Milan, Italy.


Q: What is the association between Pearl Academy and Torrens University?

Torrens University (Australia) recognizes the learning outcomes of students completing Professional Diploma courses at Pearl Academy based on our internationally recognized curriculum and quality assurance processes and awards a degree in Australia.

Students are eligible to go to TU after the successful completion of 2nd or 3rd year, or to do their masters.
Torrens University (Australia) degree makes students eligible to pursue post-graduation in any international institution.


Q: What is Pearl Academy’s association with IGNOU?

Pearl Academy has tied up with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the largest Open University in the world and a National Resource Centre for Open and Distance Learning in the Country with international recognition and presence.

Pearl Academy is an authorised IGNOU Study Centre (SC 38037) where in the students can study for a Bachelor’s degree in various streams. Courses offered by IGNOU at Pearl Academy are Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in English, Sociology, Political Science and History and other courses.

As a study centre, Pearl Academy will provide extensive and efficient student support services to its learners. All students going abroad for semester exchange/ study abroad will get a certificate from the college they study at e.g. London College of Fashion, Media Design School, Domus Academy etc.


Q: Is Attendance compulsory?

Students are encouraged to maintain a 100 percent attendance for each semester. However, a minimum of 70% attendance is mandatory to be eligible for assessments. Attendance may mean full presence in all scheduled contact hours between the tutors and the students and will consist of lectures/tutorials/seminars/ practical/workshops/mentoring sessions and any other contact between the tutor and the students.

Q: Are there any scholarships available?

Followings are the different scholarships categories for deserving candidates:

  • Merit Scholarship (New Entrants) –Top performers in the Admission process (Entrance Test + Interview).This is a new category being introduced this academic year to encourage deserving candidates with meritorious academic performance.
  • Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (New Entrants)- The Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (new entrants) are granted to qualified candidates with financial challenges as per Academy’s scholarship policy. The Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (new entrants) is applicable only to the new enrollees / students of regular UG / PG / Master Pathways at the time of admission for first year only.
  • Merit Scholarship (Existing Students)- will be awarded annually to students who have topped (1st rank) in their respective cohorts, subject to a minimum class size of 30 students and meeting eligibility criteria.
