Pearl Academy brings Fashion Extravaganza through
PORTFOLIO ’08
New Delhi, May 30, 2008: All set to join the fashion industry, the graduating Fashion Design students of Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF) today showcased their creative talent through -Portfolio ’08, Pearl Academy’s annual graduating show. Versatile outfits designed specially for theme-based sequences by PAF students, were gracefully portrayed by professional models as they walked down the ramp. Guest of Honor, eminent Designer Satya Paul and Chief Guest Dr. Sheela Bhide, CMD, ITPO graced the occasion to encourage the students and winners. Other important guests from the industry including Mr. Adarsh Gupta of Liberty Shoes; Munjal family of Hero Honda Group; designers J J Valaya, Niki Mahajan, Puneet Nanda of Satypa Paul, D K Nair of CITI also graced the occasion.
The show was a success with ramp dazzling with the designer outfits worn by some of the renowned models like Sapna Kumar, Laxmi Rana, Sonalika Sahay and more. Students created mesmerizing collection following various themes like ‘Get Tipsy – High on Life!!’, ‘A Whack Track over the Rainbow Desert’, ‘Tropical Rainforests ‘Mesmerizing….Miasma’ to mention.
Every collection had a unique inspirational source behind them. Varying from pop art and Indian kitsch, dreams & fantasy, military, nature to banjara women of Rajasthan, the students experimented with technology, non-conventional material, color palettes, silhouettes and fabrics in their collections. Theme ‘Tropical Rainforests’ showcased contribution of our nation towards eco- fashion. Natural fabrics like khadi, linen, jute and chanderi were used for this collection. Also the detailing in the garments was done with natural materials like sea shells, jute, raffia etc.
Delighted to be a part of portfolio ’08, eminent designer Satya Paul said “I would like to congratulate Pearl Academy for putting up such a wonderful show. I am very happy to be here to witness the efforts made by the young upcoming designers and their works are beyond my expectations. India is an ocean of talent and only on occasions like these we manage to witness such talents. Many Pearl Academy students are working with Genesis Colours and doing exceedingly well. I would love to invite more students from the batch to work for me in near future.”
Addressing the media, Mr. A.K.G Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion said, "Portfolio is a platform for our students to unveil their best creations. We are delighted and overwhelmed with the response to our portfolio event. It was a pleasure to witness the innovative creations of the young creative minds. I am confident that these young designers' would further enhance the brand name of PAF’’.
Choreographed by renowned choreographer Harmeet Bajaj, the event was highly appreciated by the audience and the judges.
