Open Works ‘08
~ 2-day exhibition by graduating students of Communication Design commences
on June 03, 2008 ~
New Delhi, June 8th 2008: Pearl Academy of Fashion, India’s premier institute for fashion education presented Open Works ‘08 – a two day exhibition that displayed the best creative works by graduating students of B.A. Hons Communication Design course, held at the Experimental Art Gallery on June 3rd- 4th, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The gamut of themes explored by the students of Communication design ranging from tourism ministry to promotional campaigns, from Down Syndrome Children to Indian Art Tradition from Gurukul method of teaching to Designer Lounge, among many others. Students used animation skills, graphic designing, multimedia etc. to showcase their skills.
With special interest in animation, student of communication design, Akanksha Rastogi showcased prevailing problems of our country like Garbage accumulation through animation. While Ankita Gupta chose the communications medium to address the problem of domestic violence, Richa Ahuja showcased Indian art tradition called the ‘Phad’ by using 2D cut out animation technique.
The design programmes at Pearl Academy of Fashion covers foundation areas that strive to inculcate in the students the ability to visualize and represent ideas and concepts, understanding and application of design fundamentals, understanding of material and material manipulation, understanding of cultural manifestation and contexts, and their relevance to design, effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. AKG Nair – Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion said, “Communication design is a mixed discipline between design and information-development which is concerned with how media intermission such as printed, crafted, electronic media or presentations communicate with people. The aim of this exhibition is to provide an opportunity to the students to gain knowledge and skills in a wide array of highly integrated design applications. I congratulate all the students for participating and making the best use of this platform to communicate their ideas”.
