Nandita Abraham is an ambitious and energetic leader who works with a mission to keep students at the centre of all initiatives. With over twenty years of dynamic experience across corporates and academia, Nandita joined Pearl Academy in 2001 as a faculty in the School of Creative Business. Over the years, she has worked successfully at various positions within the academy. From being a faculty to heading corporate relations & marketing departments, Nandita has driven multiple initiatives and has championed pedagogy enhancement and student learning initiatives with a keen focus on internationality and industry connect.
Apart from managing strategic key initiatives of the organisation, Nandita in her earlier role as Executive Vice President also led Pearl academy’s efforts to integrate industry with the classroom. Amongst many unique initiatives, Nandita recently spearheaded the path-breaking Pearl Academy – Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) collaboration, which sets a new benchmark for the Industry Academia partnership. Nandita has driven multiple initiatives with emphasis on Student, Operations, Data and People development. She has been playing an active role in growth and expansion of the Academy and has made pivotal contributions towards establishment of the Mumbai centre of Pearl Academy.
Nandita is a member of the CII National Committee on Design and is also a member of Executive Committee, IFFTI – International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes. She has been a part of various International Projects and prestigious conferences. She was a panellist at the ‘Skill Inc. Summit’ organised by The Times of India in New Delhi. She has been on the Research Committee at IFFTI (the International Federation of Fashion Technology Institutes) and has presented papers at Melbourne, Jaipur and Taipei in the areas of Pedagogy, employability and international collaboration. She has been invited to and given lectures at University of Delaware, US and London College of Fashion. Nandita has procured funding for and actively managed four Indo UK projects – three UK India Research Initiatives with London College of Fashion, UK and Ravensbourne College of Design & Communication, and a DELPHE (Developing Partnerships in Higher Education) Project with Northumbria University.
Prior to joining Pearl Academy, Nandita was associated with organizations like Arvind Mills Ltd. and Arvind Worldwide in Hong-Kong, where she was responsible for setting up a marketing office for new business the knitwear business. She also worked in the US with a leading textile firm.
Nandita has a ‘Masters in science‘ from Philadelphia University, PG Certificate in Higher Education from Nottingham Trent University, PG Diploma from NIFT, Delhi and Bachelors in Economics from Bangalore University.
Living in Delhi/NCR with her family, Ms. Abraham unwinds by reading historical books and travelling whenever able. She enjoys the outdoors and has half marathons and a 100km Oxfam Trailwalk to her credit.
