Faces of Pearl

For the last 23 years, Pearl Academy has served as a catalyst for creative excellence. Having nurtured limitless potential and mentored countless talent, we have consistently pushed the boundaries of creativity. From the numerous success stories we helped shape, we would like to share with you a few truly inspiring ones. Starting January 2017, these stories, one each week for the next 52 weeks, will help renew our zeal and strengthen our resolution to shape the future of creativity and also serve as inspiration to many out there. So here are our #FacesOfPearl, get inspired.

  • Swati has been one of our brightest stars ever since she joined our Fashion Business Management course at Pearl Academy, Delhi. A reservoir of potential and talent, she has met with incredible success post her stint at Pearl. Having worked at United Colors of Benetton for three seasons, she honed her craft before starting her own brand - Swarang Designs which has helped rediscover the forgotten art and crafts of India. Today, she has helped ensure the sustenance of India’s rich cultural heritage, artisans and the industry.

  • During his time at Pearl, Abhimanyu was a prodigy who today has exceeded all expectations. He started his professional career as a fashion stylist for Jabong honing his keen interest in fashion photography/visual art. .
    He then explored more opportunities as a freelance photographer and also started his own photo blog-Ishtailista which provided insights on street style & behind the scene photos of the Indian fashion scene. His big break came with Flint magazine based in Australia which led to a slew of opportunities in other national and international magazines and publications.

  • From the Best Academic Performance Award, 2013 at Pearl to countless other successes since, Ankit Nandwani has truly fulfilled his potential and exceeded all expectations. Today, he is a celebrated full time Commercial Photographer in the Fashion, Product, Food and Interior-Exterior sectors catering to an array of reputed brands and companies. His incredible talent also earned him two nominations at the leading International Black and White Photography Awards - The Spider Awards. His work has also been featured extensively in illustrious magazines like Elle India, Cosmo India, Grazia and Vogue. #FacesOfPearl

  • There is a hero within us, all we need to do is look inside’. Our alumna Saadhika Chhabra brings to life this mantra. After completing her BA (Honours) Fashion Retail Management, she bagged an internship with Snapdeal via Pearl Academy. She also worked as a Marketing & Graphics Coordinator at Forever New India. Her passion and dedication won her the ‘Most Professional Project’ Award for her final year dissertation on ‘Impacts & Benefits of Neuromarketing in India’. Having met with incredible success in a short period of time, Saadhika chose to serve society and applied for a fellowship at ‘Teach For India’. Currently she teaches underprivileged children and works for the betterment of their future. For us she is our #FaceofPearl

  • Priyanka Yadav, a true fashion whiz has been turning heads in the industry with her talents and skills. Having worked with renowned names in the business like RAHUL MISHRA (at the Paris Fashion Week) and SUKETDHiR (Men’s Milan Fashion Week at White Milano), she has accomplished much in an incredibly short span of time.
    Even during her time at Pearl Academy she excelled in a variety of fields having won the Special Jury Award and The Canvironment Competition, 2013. This multi faceted, talent powerhouse is a Designer, Stylist, Model, Photographer and a Blogger, which won her recognition at the Vogue Talents (Vogue Italia) and (a London based Art, Fashion and Design website). She is currently working on her Blog Pri- free bee. #FacesOfPearl

  • Karan’s career began at the age of 19, amidst a flourishing family business. His dream however was to turn his family enterprise into a global phenomenon. It is the pursuit of this vision that brought him to Pearl Academy. Blessed with a flair for design, Karan’s skills were honed during his stint at Pearl which gave his products - shawls, stoles, and scarves a distinct edge over his competitors.
    Due to his perseverance and hard-work, AhujasonsShawl Wale Pvt. Ltd. was awarded the Top Export Award for Shawls as Artware - for the year 2013 and 2014 by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts - EPCH #FacesOfPearl

  • Our alumna, Sunaina Harjai (BA Hons Fashion Retail Management course) has come a long way in her creative journey. From being our star student to blossoming into one of the hottest trendsetters in the world of footwear, Sunaina has exceeded the potential she displayed at Pearl. As proud Pearlite, she brought countless laurels and honours to the Academy with her work during her formative years and even today.
    Post her years at Pearl, she left behind big shoes to fill (pun intended) having already created countless milestones in the footwear industry. In 2015, she launched her brand ‘Hats Off Accessories’ and now caters to people craving handcrafted designer shoes. Tracing her roots from a renowned family of shoemakers, Sunaina was always destined for greatness and her own footwear brand is just the beginning.   • Textile Design graduate from the Pearl Academy, Delhi campus is today a renowned Shibori artist. During his time at Pearl Academy, he had already made name for himself having won the prestigious BeOpen – Made in India competition, 2014 in the Fashion Accessories category and #Let’s dye for each other, India Design, 2015. He further developed his interest in Shibori and focused on mixing traditional art of India and Japan to create a well-balanced fusion which added a new dimension in the art form.
    Since then, his talent has only been outdone by his success. His artwork has been featured in the 10th International Shibori Symposium, 2016, Centro Cultura de San Pablo, Oaxaca de Juarez, Mexico and in the 20Under35, DesignXDesign, 2015, organized by Alliance De Francaise. He recently presented his collection at the glamorous Pullman Sunday Style Brunch and his work impressed many in the audience. For us, he is amongst the #FacesofPearl

  • Deepika was one of the brightest gems in our Fashion Design course at Pearl Academy, Delhi Campus. As a student she showed immense potential with faculty members still raving about her incredible display at the Pearl Academy Pullman Show. She also excelled during her Student Exchange stint at NTU. She has since added countless feathers in her cap. She worked with designer Aneeth Arora for over a year. Her stint helped her gain experience in fields including sampling, production, dealing with clients and buyers along with handling fashion shows. She was one of the semi-finalists at the Lakme Gen Next and her work was featured in prestigious events like Wills Debut and Asian Designer Week 2016.

  • Ankit Singla, a former Fashion Business Management student from School of Creative Business at Pearl Academy is today turning heads in the world of fashion. He attributes his success to the institute and thanks the faculty for standing by him, believing in him, giving him a hands-on experience of the nuances of the business and opportunities to work with brands like Ralph Lauren, Armani Exchange, Victoria's Secret, Marks and Spencer, Jockey India, Nike, Calvin Klein, Massimo Dutti etc. He has also taken a giant step in his career by starting his own venture - Punjla, a delicate blend of traditional art, grace and elegance which brings to life, the essence of royalty. With the sole aim of reviving the beautiful tradition and heritage of the Punjabi art of ‘Phulkari’, every creation at ‘Punjla’ is a pure indulgence in itself. His clientele includes big names and celebrities like Radhika Apte has been spotted adorning his brand.   • Her creativity and ingenuity continues to be an inspiration to countless students. She excelled as a student and as an alumna she continues to make us proud. Today, she is one of India’s leading fashion designers. Her brand 'Vaishali S’ is credited with reviving hand woven Indian textiles and giving them a fresh lease of life on the Indian fashion circuit. The brand began its showcase after its launch at the prestigious Lakmé Fashion Week, 2011. Vaishali has since presented 16 successful collections at some of the biggest fashion events like Wills India Fashion Week, Delhi and Lakmé Fashion Week, Mumbai.Her collections include contemporary and traditional Indian wear, Indo-western and Western wear, all handmade and beautifully designed. Vaishali believes in keeping the dying traditional art of weaving alive and is committed towards getting Indian hand woven textiles trending again.#FacesOfPearl

  • From a star student (BA Hons in Fashion Design and Technology) to a thriving entrepreneur, Megha Singhal has gone a long way in her pursuit of greatness. With a CV that boasts of some of the biggest names in the Fashion industry, Megha has been creating waves in the business.
    After concluding her education at Pearl, she worked with Suneet Verma for a year and later joined Triburg as a designer. She also spent 6 months in Seattle waiting for an opportunity to show her true potential. She finally started her own Export house - 'Dexter Apparels pvt. ltd.' and her buyers include giants like Oxbow France, Angel & Rocket, and Amazon UK.#facesofPearl
