Course Overview

This program in Design (Fashion & Textiles) aims to approach the development of students from an all-encompassing perspective and enable them to solve complex and challenging problems in the Fashion industry. Students in this program engage in course work and industry-centric experiences to demonstrate the advanced knowledge and skills required in the profession, such as examining trends, applying theories, and familiarising oneself with government policies that impact the fashion business. The course demands an in-depth design knowledge and a judicious application of the creative thinking process that is expected from people wanting to break into fashion design. The course aims to educate individuals with a relevant design background of around 2 to 3 years, or around 3 to 4 years of industry experience to function as higher managers and specialists for the dynamic fashion industry, either in India or abroad. The first phase of the course – “the bridge” – aims to build a sound foundational grounding for all candidates in the first year of the course. The learning in this course is constructed progressively through a mix of core and specialised subjects. This course integrates learning and its application for each project, in addition to industry engagement opportunities. The course provides flexibility and mobility to students to help them choose their path and progress at a comfortable pace – as per their aptitude and ability – helping them transform from learners to professionals.

Selection of Candidates

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their Statement of Purpose, following which they’ll be called for a personal interview. The final selection will then be based on an assessment of the candidate’s portfolio and performance in the personal interview. Selection is strictly on merit.

Bridge Phase

In cases where the student fails to demonstrate the required skills and competencies, he or she shall be counselled to go through the bridge phase to develop the aptitudes and proficiencies desired in a graduate student before entering the master profile. The interview panel shall take a decision on the same.

Accredited Prior Learning

This is subject to approval by the Examination Board, provided that they hold a graduate degree or diploma award.

Candidates with either a PG Diploma in Fashion Design or Textile Design from Pearl Academy: Such candidates can be considered for lateral entry into the second semester of the programme, through an examination of their potential to pursue this programme.
