Nikhil Mehra

Nikhil Mehra needs no introduction. His creativity and genius span the broad spheres of contemporary styling, Bollywood, and classic couture. He is the more creative half of the brother duo, who secured a place in the global forum with the launch of their label ‘Shantanu & Nikhil’ in the year 1999, saluting new age chic.

In 1996, after graduating from Pearl Academy, Nikhil joined Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, California for an advanced fashion design program. He has been awarded with most prestigious awards and scholarships. Nikhil was invited to design a collection for the prestigious “Georgio Beverly Hills” store in Los Angeles. He was featured in L.A. Times as the only Indian designer to have had a show in Universal Studio, Hollywood. Thereafter, Nikhil worked directly under Mrs. Gray for St. John Knits. His sophisticated design aesthetic goes beyond the ramp to the field of cricket, where Shantanu & Nikhil have designed for the highly popular Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils & Pune’s famous Warriors Jersey for the Indian Premier League (IPL). They dressed up Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan, giving him a look that took gaming show Kaun Banega Crorepati on Indian television by storm. Nikhil has dressed leading sports personalities of the world like Serena Williams, Sania Mirza, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Glen McGrath, Stephen Fleming, besides Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan, Dia Mirza, A.R.Rehman, Hrithik Roshan,, Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Kajol & Deepika Padukone.

He is counted among India’s top Best Dressed Men and is an ardent golf lover. He enjoys travelling to places with a rich heritage, culture and architecture such as Rome Spain, Tuscany, Mexico, Greece, and Turkey.

On the personal front, he is a family man and supportive husband to Vidushi Mehra, actor/renowned theater personality and doting dad to his twins. The young father believes in being the wind beneath the wings as his children take flight.

The daring designer has seamlessly brought together vintage and modern Indian sensibilities by breaking stereotypes and given India a contemporary new look.
