The program provides inputs in multifunctional areas like merchandising, principles and techniques of exports merchandising, fashion materials: fabric and trims, garment production and quality assurance and international trade practices, procedures and management.

Students will be introduced to the area of buying and merchandising primarily in apparel and garments, and also an overview of other lifestyle products. Following will be covered.

Global Fashion Industry Panorama, Buying & Merchandising Analysis, Roles of the buyer and merchandiser, Fashion retailers and brands, Planning - strategy and budgets, Buying - range planning, sourcing new brands and suppliers, Fabric and styling terminology, Trend prediction and seasons, Retail organization structure.

This unit focuses on the understanding product development both conceptually and practically:

Sourcing, Apparel Quality Management, Product innovation, Fashion product design, Contemporary aspects in fashion, Development of fashion production, Fashion production strategies, Professional research methods, Fashion supply chains, Consumers Trends, Brand strategy.

Focus on complexity of concepts and challenges involved in managing the brands and how they influence the functioning of a business.

Trading and stock management, WSSI (Weekly Sales Stock Intake) and OTB (Open To Buy), Retail planning strategies.
