Pearl Academy Hosts Portfolio 2018 In The Pink City

Jaipur, May 4, 2018: Celebrating 25 years of creative impact, Pearl Academy, India’s leading institution in design, fashion, business and media, today hosted Pearl Portfolio 2018. The event was held at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC), Jaipur, which saw a large number of students showcasing their masterpieces. The name behind some of the biggest fashion shows in the country, well-known fashion stylist and choreographer, Prasad Bidapa was the chief guest at the event.

The one-day event included an exhibition of ingenious projects by students from School of Design and School of Fashion. One of the interesting design projects displayed was a concept of creating shelters for street dogs, which covered facilities such as medical, adoption, grooming and canine therapy departments by Antara Naik. Adding to it was a gala fashion show, which displayed impressive student works. One of the leading projects among them was Reclaiming Transition - Inspired by the ongoing civil war in Syria by Rudrakshi Sukhija, which represented transition from suffering and pain towards hope. Inspired by her struggle to prove that there is potential in a creative profession, jewelry design student Shubhangi Palawat chose a humble engineering product like pipes used by civil engineers and deconstructed it to make something beautiful. The USP of this body adornment is that it transforms from a flat 2D object to an interesting 3D form, and achieves all this with very simple joinery.

In the wake of advanced technologies, design has emerged as a new-age career option for students in today’s world. It offers myriad learnings in creativity backed by great career growth. Pearl Academy has always been at the forefront, providing students with unparalleled national as well as international exposure, thereby making them industry-ready.

There was also a panel discussion called ‘The Conversation’ with industry experts such as Anshuman Sharma, Chairman Elect, IIID; Akshat Rao, Producer, Director, Olive Films and Deepak Gehlowt, practicing architect. Other prominent names present on the occasion included Vikram Joshi,  owner Rangotri and Founder member, Jaipur Bloc; Yunus Khimani, director, City Palace Museum; Swati Vijaivargie,  fashion designer, Lakme Fashion Week; Mamta Mansingka, Owner, Kilol and many others.
