No textbooks and lots and lots of experiential and engaging learning from some of the best names in the industry – that’s what happens inside our classrooms. Industry legends such as Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Rajdeep Sardesai, Avijit Dutt and Sonal Kalra have come and mentored our students. Pow Wow, our unique orientation program for all students when they begin their journey at Pearl also sees theatre artists, photographers, choreographers, puppeteers coming together to do some engaging workshops with our students!

Pearl Academy aims to take education a level notch higher for students and make them industry ready to prove their mettle in the corporate sector. Several eminent speakers from the industry visit the academy to hold interactive workshops. Students are also taken to different cities/countries for regular factory visits.

Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra first visited our Mumbai campus and then Pearl Portfolio (Delhi NCR) to meet Pearlites for Be Somebody Talk. As he said “when I go back home, I’m like. ok. now I have to think so many more things. That’s the beauty of life, it teaches you every day” left the students to do more than what they are asked for every day.

Manish Malhotra, a renowned Bollywood designer is associated with Pearl Academy as a mentor for School of Fashion, Styling & Textiles. He was simply enthralled by the ground-breaking creativity of many student projects which were on display at PORTFOLIO 2015 held in Delhi and Jaipur in May 2015. Manish said, “The capabilities & artistic calibre of these young students have truly impressed me today. Pearl Academy has done a commendable job in mentoring these kids. Industry demands a constant struggle and it could be safely said that these students have that hunger in them to fight their way forward.”

Wendell Rodricks

Wendell Rodricks is a celebrated fashion designer based in the western Indian region of Goa. On 11th May, while addressing the students of Pearl Academy at Mumbai he spoke about his journey and passion about designing in a particular style. It was interesting to hear about how he would get inspired from a common element as simple as the ripples created by water or the shells on a beach. As an artist he would capture the images and reproduce the same in his fabrics. Not only students, even the faculty at Pearl thoroughly enjoyed the insightful session.

Rahul Mishra

The well renowned designer, Rahul Mishra is causing stir both at home and internationally for all the right reasons. Off lately Rahul has showcased his creativity at Paris Fashion Week, Amazon India Fashion Week and Lakme Fashion Week. We were excited to have him visit Pearl Academy NCR (West) campus for an interactive session with the Fashion Designing students. Rahul stressed on the importance of time and stress management simultaneously giving students the invaluable tips to stay ahead in these competitive times.

Manish Arora

Ace designer Manish Arora visited Pearl Academy Delhi NCR East Centre, where he shared highlights from his journey as a designer. He was there to deliver a talk which was aimed at instilling fresh zeal and providing clarity of thought to young Pearlites. The event also marked the collaboration of Manish Arora with the E-commerce fashion store catering to the western clothing needs of fashionable men and women across India. The talk was moderated by Nonita Kalra, Editor Harper Bazaar.

Sussanne Khan

Sussanne Khan, a celebrated Interior Designer & Founder of ‘The Charcoal Project’ is currently on the advisory board of Pearl Academy. Sussanne was the chief guest for the launch of Pearl Academy’s new campus in one of India’s most creative cities- Mumbai. She also chaired the jury panel of Who’s Next Scholarships in 2015, an initiative by Pearl Academy which aimed to search for the country’s top 10 creative minds.

JJ Vallaya

JJ Vallaya, a name that needs no introduction in the field of Fashion launched E-commerce courses of Pearl Academy at the Amazon Fashion Week last year. The ace fashion designer said, “E-commerce is a booming sector and India is a very big market, a course dedicated on online commerce and trade is a boon in contemporary times. Pearl Academy has always been known for offering unique courses defining the future of fashion. Also, as E-Commerce is what we are heading towards, a balanced amalgamation of technology and craft is the need of the hour.”

Mr. Vallaya also attended our annual graduating event, PORTFOLIO’15 as a chief guest. He interacted with the budding designers and felicitated the young professionals for their inspiring work.

Rina Dhaka

Rina Dhaka, an ace fashion designer attended PORTFOLIO’15 as a chief guest for one of the ramp shows during the event. Ms. Dhaka was completely floored by the collections and work displayed by our talented pearlites at the mega fair. Rina Dhaka also headed the expert panel of Pearl’s Creative Career Conclave held at Hansraj College, Delhi University. The young DU students were excited to have her among them, as she talked about the pros and cons of the fashion world.

Fabric & Accessories Trade Show, Bangalore

Pearl Academy participated in a three day Fabric & Accessories Trade Show held in Bangalore from 4th to 6th March 2016. It was a huge platform for merchandisers to connect with their vendors and network. Pearl Academy had put up installations and a Trend Forecasting Pavilion at the show which received huge appreciation. It was an opportunity for Pearl Academy to network with prospective recruiters and showcase the region about presence of Pearl Academy.

India Fashion Forum, Mumbai

India Fashion Forum involved giants from the Fashion Industry to share their views on the different topics related to the industry. personalities like BS Nagesh, Neeta Lulla, Rakesh Biyani, Ganesh Subramanian, Rajiv Nair, Rajesh Jain were part of the panel discussions. The event was spread across 2 days and multiple dialogues took place throughout the day. CEo and School Heads from Pearl Academy participated in the panel discussions where they shared their strong viewpoints on related topics like Fashion, education et al.

Dr. Miguel Martins

Dr. Miguel Martins, Professor at University for the Creative Arts, UK recently visited Pearl Academy Delhi NCR West Centre. School of Creative Business & Corporate Relations Department at Pearl invited Miguel to talk to Industry, Alumni and Faculty members on “Digital Frontier: The new luxury world of 2020, The experience economy & Environmental impact on online retail logistics.” During the session, Dr. Miguel shared tips on Management, Learning & Leadership.

Make-up workshop for students & faculty, insights on textiles & sustainable fashion.

  • Gomit Chopra's make-up workshop for students & faculty was held in Noida campus on January 17, 2018.
  • Prof. David Goldsmith, Adjunct Professor at Parsons-The New School and a PhD Candidate at The Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås, visited Pearl’s Jaipur Campus to conduct a masterclass with the students and the faculty. He shared his experiences about textiles and sustainable fashion.
  • PGIDS Delhi team arranged a Masterclass on kitchen design on January 19 with Hettich India at the Rajouri campus. Two representatives from their Mumbai head office also visited the campus.
  • School of Design invited digital designer Jaime de Miguel from University of Seville, Spain, to co-host a workshop with SoD Delhi faculty Rashmi Malik on January 18 to 21 at Naraina campus. The successful workshop, titled “Design Future: Artificial Intelligence” was open to Pearl students and faculty as well as external designers and explored the possibilities of artificial intelligence and convoluted neural networks in varied disciplines of Design.
  • Clair McTurk from Manchester Metropolitan University conducted a workshop for the FD students on January 31, 2018 in Delhi.
  • Designer Anuj Sharma conducted a workshop on his label Button Masala for the PGFD & FD students on January 30, 2018 in Delhi.
  • Ms. Clare Mc Turk, Principle Lecturer, Manchester Metropolitan University conducted a masterclass for 55 UG FLBM students on January 31, 2018.

Master class for foundation students introducing 3D printing & discussion on finer aspects of design thinking

  • Designer Rahul Sharma conducted a master class for foundation students introducing 3D printing at primary level so as to give a perspective of the work in industry, to the students at Jaipur. Initially, basic 3D modelling was taught on Rhino followed by 3D printing and lastly moulded in POP or Resin.
  • Saurav Sharma (Alumni) also conducted a master class on the finer aspects of Design and Design thinking. The workshop helped the students to understand the overall aspects of Design, Semiotics, Context Based Communication System, Ethnographic Research, Methods for Structuring and Visualization of Information as well as got exposure to creative processes for solving design problems.
  • Master class by Brigette Singh was organized for students of PGFD Y2 at Jaipur campus.

Masterclass on Game Design & interaction with fashion & design students

  • Masterclass on Game Design was conducted by Sharddha Jain on 17th November for foundation students at our Mumbai campus.
  • Master craftsmen of Terracotta and Applique work conducted a workshop with the foundation students on 17th November 2017 in Noida.
  • Designer Nachiket Barve interacted with the Fashion Design (UG/PG) students in Mumbai. The interaction was an interesting one, wherein he showed his work to the students and explained his design process. Q&A session gave students an insight into his journey in the design field and how he has expanded his work across different platform of films and home furnishings etc.
  • Designer Kallol Dutta conducted a 4-day intensive workshop on ‘Creative Patternmaking’ with the UGFD L3 and PGFD Y2 students in Mumbai. Under his guidance the students conceptualized and constructed some interesting garments given the short span of 4 days.
  • Mr. Varun Sharma, founder of visited Noida campus on 17th November for an Interactive Session with all the Fashion Design Students. is an online site for embellishment material that has been supplying too many big names of the industry as Sabyasachi, Manish Arora to name a few.

Masterclass with Industry Experts guiding students of PGFD & UGFSID students

  • “Balkishan” artist and entrepreneur in Kashmiri embroidery conducted a one day workshop with UGFD & PGFD students on 10th October 2017 at Noida campus.
  • Mr Tarandeep Singh conducted a workshop on light and sound collaterals for UGFMC 2015 -19 students (Delhi).
  • Architect Kanu Kartik Agarwal took an interactive “Pickled Minds” session on 13th October at Noida campus for Interiors students.

Guest lecture by Senior Architect and Secretary IIID Jaipur

Mr. Anshuman Sharma, senior architect and secretary IIID – Jaipur chapter visited Pearl Jaipur campus on 4th May. He addressed the students in career in interior design and the importance of networking. He even saw the work of Final year students. Mr. Anshuman Complimented the work of UG Design – level 3 students.


Pearl Academy, Jaipur proudly hosted Ms. Paarisha- Founder “ Paarisha” for a small interactive session with Jewelry design students on April 21st 2016. Paarisha, based in Bangalore is a contemporary jewelry line that beautifully blends the traditional Indian influences with modern Silhouettes to create one- of- a kind unique pieces. Ms. Sharma also discussed about the possibility of Internships and opportunities for fabric/yarn and jewelry projects for our Pearl students.

Laila Tyabji

“If you can dream it, you can achieve it”, said Laila Tyabji to Pearlites at Jaipur campus Padma Shri Laila Tyabji visited Pearl Academy’s Kukas based Jaipur campus to enlighten our students on the importance of India’s rich art and craft heritage along with its much needed conservation. More than 200 students from the Academy attended her session and got a chance to know the maestro closely.

Ms. Laila Tyabji justifies every role she’s playing in her real life – a social worker, a craft revivalist, an art designer or being the founder of ‘Dastkar’ (a Delhi-based NGO) working for the revival of traditional crafts in India. She was honoured by the Govt. of India in 2012 with the fourth–highest Indian civilian award – Padma Shri, for her immense contribution in the art and crafts industry. The credit to revolutionize the craft industry in India also goes to Tyabji, as she has been helping in developing a market for Indian crafts, modernizing the artisans’ skills, and acting as the liaising link between the artisans and the buyers.

Hafeez Contractor

The awestruck audience could hardly take their attention away from the wizard of planning and architecture, Hafeez Contractor who interacted with more than 200 listeners at Pearl Academy’s Jaipur campus. The world-renowned master planner and architect shared success Mantras with Pearlites, school students, parents and our faculty members. As the Academy offers UG and PG courses in Interior Architecture and Design, and Interior Design, the session was very useful for many. Hafeez also mentioned that there is a huge scope in the domain of Interior Designing. “The interior designers are in demand and they also earn handsome salaries. Architecture firms need interior designers who could understand the need of their customers and provide innovative solutions.”

Errol Pires

Errol Pires, a maestro in real life for a unique art known as “Ply-split braiding” visited Pearl Academy to conduct an eye-opening workshop to promote the dying art. He shared the traditional techniques and nuances of the art with the enthusiastic Pearlites to make camel belts, containers of joy, belts and soft boards. Errol has redefined the form of art which will challenge the human minds and can resurrect the problems that one might be facing to join the centres of art and knowledge. He took the workshop of this unique art with Pearlites across all the Pearl campuses.

Nischal Jain

We recently had Mr. Nischal Jain visit our Jaipur Campus. Nischal is a graduate in Architecture from MREC now MNIT, Jaipur and a post graduate in Industrial Design from IIT Delhi. Nischal talked to Interior Design students about “Truly Green buildings: Need of the hour” where he laid emphasis on sustainable designs and how this principle is being implemented world across.

Sundeep Malhotra, CEO Homeshop18

Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, CEO, Homeshop18 shared his success journey with the students of School of Creative Business, Pearl Academy. During the session, he spoke mainly about how he started the company to making it India’s leading digital commerce platform- present on TV, web and mobile.

Triveni Group

Triveni Group addressed the enthusiastic bunch of students of School of Fashion, Styling & Textile, Pearl Academy. He spoke about the dynamics of becoming a part of his 30-year-old family business and streamlining processes in Traditional working conditions. Also during the lecture, he also shared the importance of a saree and how saree is the most versatile garment in our country.

Chetan Sorab

The Academy regularly invites experts such as Chetan Sorab, an Industrial Design Professional who has worked with brands such as L.G. electronics and Honda. Mr. Sorab delivered a guest lecture on ‘Industrial Design’ and shared his valuable inputs and knowledge with enthusiastic Pearlites. He talked about his passionate philosophy of designing objects with a wow element and showcased some of his beautiful designs.

Ganesh Subramaniam

A guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Ganesh Subramaniam, Head- New Initiatives of Who shared his expert views about the booming E-commerce industry and its growth prospects. Mr. Subramanian has over 20 years of rich and diverse experience in the retail and fashion industry where he created many powerful in-house brands.


Printoctopus is a vibrant community and a marketplace that gives a big hearty shout out to the artist that exists within all of us. The founder of the organization, Mr. Dhruv visited Pearl Academy NCR campus (West) to speak to students from Communication Design course. Dhruv also shared his experiences as an entrepreneur and discussed some challenges faced by him when he started his company last year and how he made it to success. Opportunities for full time placements and internships were also shared by him. He left students inspired and motivated to bring out the artist in them by thinking out of the box.

3D Printing Workshop

Pearl Academy Naraina, hosted Mr. Aman Kaushal and Mr Axel Joaquim Fernandes from Forgify 3D on Feb 11th’ 2016 to conduct a workshop on 3D printing. The participants of the workshop were the students and the faculty members of the school of design . The objective of the workshop was to create awareness amongst the students and faculty members about the latest trends and technology available for 3D printing.

They demonstrated the working of the latest device to make 3D printing easier and convenient these days. They also gave a presentation on how such devices can be used for more creative designs and explained its scope for the students to help them in their career ahead.

Empirical approach with ideological knowledge is a prerequisite to master any field. Guest lectures enable the students in enhancing the latest updates regarding various channels for higher studies and jobs as well as the need of the industry. Recently a Marketing & Styling guest session & a workshop was conducted at our campus by Ms. Priyanka Chugh from for our students. The lecture was attend by students from FBM, PGFMG, PGFLE, PGFLR, UGFSID, PGFSID & PR and Event courses. The main motive behind the workshop was to help students understand how marketing is a fundamental part of an ecommerce company for driving sales by raising alertness about an online store’s brand and product offerings. Marketing & Styling work conjointly for any ecommerce organization. An appropriate styling of any apparel can help the organization to drive sales & more potential customers. Session on Entrepreneurship

Pearl Academy Noida proudly hosted Mr. Siddhartha Bansal for an interactive session with Fashion Design students. He discussed about design sensibilities along with stressing upon the importance of choosing the area of expertise/ stream very carefully. He also talked about how he was earlier working under a firm and later feeling the saturation in the job branched out to create his own label- western wear and lifestyle products. He talked about the essence of entrepreneurship being able to manage time, skills and funds. His talk featured his struggle to create and sustain a name of his own, how he managed costing with quality. The importance of budgeting and renting a place is vital for your own business. Outsourcing is something which he expressed as valuable unless the volume of business is monumental. He threw light on the importance of visibility and product reach through various avenues- launch platforms, exhibitions & competitions. How not to restrict your mind on working with only big names as small ones teach responsibility whereas with big labels process and working cohesively with bigger teams is learnt. It was an exhaustive session of 1.5 hours which not only answered Fashion student queries but also cleared their minds with the many myths associated with starting your own label.

Mr. Nishant Manchanda, Co- Founder of addressed students at Jaipur campus. is an e-commerce jewelry portal. Students from UG Jewelry Design and foundation were present for the session. The topic of the session was, “ How online fashion industry is moving – challenges and opportunities – how one needs to prepare of it”.
