Course Overview

Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) at Pearl Academy is a two-year full-time program approved by AICTE, designed to inculcate competencies in students to become effective leaders in the VUCA world.

Programme Objectives

The programme is designed to train students to help them build and enhance their leadership competencies. The meticulously structured programme helps students:

  • Understand how to effectively adapt to the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous nature of business environment in the fast paced world of today.

Curriculum

The PGDM pedagogy and curriculum has been designed to strongly enable the development of students’ skills, to apply management theories and concepts to live problems of business and industry. The emphasis is on student learning and to hone their ability to relate concepts and theories to business realities. Here, they are expected to achieve the high standards of excellence that the school has set for themselves. The education is imparted through many ways including Lectures, Case studies, Seminars, Assignments, and through various fun-yet interactive methods like Live projects, Group Discussions, Business Games, Field Visits for experiential learning activities, Educational Excursions, Role Plays, Simulation Exercises and Structured & Unstructured group work.

The programme has been envisioned to enable students to acquire the skills required to deal with complex problems of management. It has been integrated with the upgraded evolving technology in the learning processes. The curriculum is revised on an ongoing basis through discussions with industry practitioners, so that it continues to reflect current business needs. Further, several field-based projects undertaken by the students also gets us better insights into workplace reality.

In the first-year PGDM students undertake a 32-week core curriculum in general management and in the 2nd year they may select electives in the field of:

Growth and creation of wealth comes from entrepreneurial ventures in most economies of the world. Pearl Academy PGDM offers the Entrepreneurship, Start-up and Family Business specialised elective to help students acquire skills needed to become a successful entrepreneur and to become familiar with the entrepreneurial process. The modules in the specialisation led by an expert panel of faculty and industry veterans ensures that you develop the best of both theoretical and practical knowledge.

This course will also enable students to develop skills to build brand / product/category extension of the existing family business and to understand aspects of family businesses’ financial systems, focusing on both internal and external elements.

Eligibility

The candidate must have minimum Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline. Candidates appearing in final year/semester of degree program can also apply subject to fulfilling the above notified eligibility criteria.

The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

National Exam Scores

Candidates who have appeared for CAT, XAT, CMAT, NMAT, MAT, GMAT will be short listed directly to appear in interview process. The cut off scores to apply are – CAT/XAT – 50 Percentile CMAT/MAT/NMAT – 60 Percentile GMAT – 400 marks

Those who have not taken any entrance exam can take the Pearl Academy General Proficiency Test.

Selection Process

General Proficiency Test (GPT) followed by Personal Interview. Candidates applying through national level examination scores will be exempted from GPT and called directly to attend the personal interview.

Personal Interview – On the basis of GPT performance or on national level examination scores, only the shortlisted candidates will be called for Personal Interviews at Pearl campus at Bangalore/Delhi – South/Mumbai
