“Hailing from an army background and having travelled extensively all over the country, my greatest desire had been to join the armed forces medical college and become a doctor. By doing this I would have achieved both my ambitions. Due to certain unforeseen circumstances could not pursue medicine and on suggestion of my Uncle took admission for a 3 year course in interior designing at Women’s Polytechnic South Extension New Delhi. This was a completely new upcoming profession at that time with very few students opting for it. I stepped forward with all the zeal, passion and enthusiasm emancipating from a young girl, never to look back with any regrets till date. The 38 years of working experience in the industry, as free lancing and in academics taught me a lot in life. It always gave me an immense feeling of happiness and a proud moment to cherish after viewing an empty space of plain walls transform into an amazingly beautiful place.
I had the privilege of working with some of the leading architects in Delhi like M/S Rajinder Kumar & Associates, M/S Arvind Gupta & associates. Also worked as an In House designer with Dalmia Resorts for their resort “The Old Anchor at Goa”. Shifting to Pune and with fewer job opportunities a decade back made me resort to free lancing. My hard work and perseverance gave me a vast experience of varied types of projects that include Hospitality, office Interiors, residential and Play schools. My work included concept designing to layout planning, detailed drawings, presentations, supervision and inspection thereby covering all aspects of design process. My teaching career began 19 years back at Career Forum in Pune. Since then I have taught at various esteemed Institutes both in Pune and Mumbai.”
