The 2 Year PG Pathway in Fashion Design is an opportunity to take up a creative career in clothing. The programme offers great potential for employment opportunities in the rapidly expanding designer labels, luxury brands, apparel retail brands and ready-to-wear industry. Keeping up with the current competitive environment, a fashion designer needs to be equipped with knowledge, skills and professional aptitude to give shape to creative ideas through technical interpretation.
The course imbibes an integrated approach to design technical subjects with thorough market understanding. It provides opportunities to students to gain live experience through industry interaction, internship and live projects to learn and become better professionals.
The first semester of the course is treated in laying Basic Design Foundation. Students of semester 1 deal with Fashion Design Process, Visualization and Presentation Techniques, Contextual design studies and Communication.
The learning concentrates on the holistic understanding and skills of core subjects i.e. Fashion Form and Function, Traditional Textiles & Crafts and Portfolio Development. The focus is to impart core-based knowledge to acquire basic skills in fabric developments and understanding of design process keeping in mind trends and forecast.
Students take their previous learning to a higher, complex and sophisticated stage of understanding and engage in application through projects, often sponsored by industry, and, therefore, coming to terms with reality of the world in the learning space. They also learn about Business Studies & Entrepreneurship and effortlessly learn integrate design with business.
This semester provides the maximum scope to design own final research brief and implement it successfully. This facilitates a student to achieve a very meritorious final work, and to demonstrate a well-honed, highly specialized, application of significance to the chosen discipline in Fashion.
