Course Overview

This 2 Year PG Pathway for qualified Fashion Stylist from Pearl Academy places and emphasis on design, a good visual eye and qualities of emotional and physical strength as one embarks on a rewarding career in commercial styling, fashion show curation, window displays, fashion publications, personal shopping, image makeovers, television and film industry, theatre and advertising.

The students work with styling agencies for television and reality shows as well as with popular photographers to style portfolios. Starting their careers as assistant stylists to established top-end industry stylists, they learn and eventually establish their own hold in this highly competitive and creatively challenging but exciting industry.


Level 1

1. Foundation

(Ideate: Fundamentals of Art and Design).

1. It introduces the student to the process of design thinking so as to ease them into a design discipline.

2. Fashion Cultures and Historical Studies 1. 2. It focuses on the understanding and critical analyses of the perspectives developed within cultural and historical theory. It focuses on fashion eras, fashion icons and major players of the fashion industry. Alongside the students learn make-up and hair design skills.
3. Concepts of Fashion Styling 3. It engages the student to know aesthetic principles and the realm of fashion and its elements as formative or constructive value objectives while being transformed into products of human desire. Alongside the students learn Fashion Photography.
4. Fashion Cultures and Historical Studies 2. 4. This module stresses on the evolution of major fashion trends, early sighting of trends, and the trickle down and bubble up of trends. Alongside the students learn make-up and hair design skills.
5. Concepts of Fashion Styling 5. This module provides the students with the advance knowledge of how to produce a fashion shoot. Alongside the students learn Fashion Photography.
6. Fashion Visualization. 6. This module provides the participants with required computer application skills for design and learning.
Level 2

1.Professional Practice

1. This Module aims to understand the nuances of an existing or emerging brand in relation to fashion styling & identity in commerce, business and customer experience.

2. Editorial Styling (Elective) 2. It aims at enhancing skills to perceive and execute successful editorial shoots and look books.
3. Commercial Styling (Elective) 3. This module aims at teaching the nuances of styling involved in the TV and film industry, along with print advertisements and theater costumes.
4. New Media Styling (Elective) 4. It emphasizes on e-styling and its importance in image building for brands, designers, bloggers, publications and fashion set ups.
5. Personal Styling (Elective) 5. This module focuses on analyzing, reviewing and discussing different body types in co-relation with body correction and enhancement.
6. Final Project 6. This project is a juxtaposition of well researched and creative expressions, encompassing the learning of all previous semesters.
