New Delhi: Students of Pearl Academy, India’s leading fashion, design and creative business institute, made the year-ending festive season special for all the shoppers at Select City Walk, Saket. The students have created beautiful Christmas trees inside the mall using everyday waste material like tyres, bottles, egg trays, books, egg shells etc.

The installation art at the mall is a project which aims at educating people on how daily items which they perceive as ‘useless’ can actually be priceless if we know how to recycle them. Pearl Academy and its students took up this project around Christmas to spread the message of sustainability and waste management to shoppers and to stress upon the importance of responsible usage of resources.

Select City Walk will be displaying these installations at the mall as a part of their Christmas celebrations. Students from Pearl had spent around a month in ideating and preparing the installations which are now being appreciated not just by the mall management but also by thousands of shoppers who visit the mall every day.

The project was executed by the Post Graduate and Under Graduate students of Visual Merchandise module for Fashion Business – Lifestyle Retail. Speaking about the project, Dr Priya Mary Mathew, Head, School of Creative Business, said, “We are extremely pleased with the response our students have got for their installation art at the Select City Walk mall. This project saw many man hours of research and planning, apart from the time it took to execute it. We are confident that enthused by the response from general public, our students are now planning to execute more such projects which are not just beautiful but also have a strong message for the society.”
