Pearl Academy is offering a 2 Year PG Pathway in Luxury Brands. Luxury may be all about exclusivity, but serving the business aspect is as important. During this program, students gain expertise in balancing the glamorous ornamentation of luxury with business acumen. The students also explore and come up with solutions to various pressing issues faced by the Luxury Industry. The program has been validated by Domus Academy, one of the most acclaimed institutes specializing in Luxury Education. This program offers a unique opportunity of understanding luxury brands like Ermenegildo Zegna, Gucci, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Louis Vuitton, etc. The program also facilitates interaction with the luxury industry, where students gain invaluable advice from industry professionals.

The intake of the students for the course is from diverse educational backgrounds. It is very important for a student to appreciate luxury products aesthetically to analyze the codes of symbolism and identity. In initial semester, the student is introduced to key areas and concepts in luxury business management to update or broaden their knowledge base. At intermediate levels the course will focus on enhancing and expanding students’ knowledge and conception of the understanding of luxury as a concept. Students will explore the historical and socio-cultural context of Luxury Brand Management and will also gain understanding on technical aspects of various luxury products and services.

The later semesters provides maximum flexibility to learn at the academy and in the real world, through a variety of options. The recursive pattern of integration continues and the learners will be exposed to wider theoretical contexts and intricate technical context. The students will be encouraged to apply these to complex and independent investigations on Luxury Retail Marketing & Management.

Visual Influences in Luxury

This module will help the student in understanding the basics of color, balance, texture etc. The students will explore the luxury design fundamentals which will help them in understanding the design philosophy and symbolical language of various luxury brands.

Luxury Goods & Services I

This will acquaint the learners with the concept of Luxury and introduce them to luxury product categories of Apparel, Footwear, Handbags, Automobiles and Wine & Champagne.

Styling & Etiquette

This module will provide the learning group with inputs on grooming, professional and personal styling, photography, written and

verbal communication skills etc. The course would be facilitated using online blended approach.

Luxury & Culture I This module will help the student in understanding the evolution of art & fashion until 1950’s. They will also understand how cultural emergence and diversity impacts luxury brand’s design and design language. Various art movements like Dadaism, Cubism, Art Nouveau, Minimalism, Impressionism, Pop Art, Op Art etc will be covered in this module.

 

Luxury Goods & Services II This module will be extended to product categories like Jewelry, Hospitality and Spas, Watches, Yachts and Perfumery. Carrying forward from the last semester, this module will help the students in understanding the various features of luxury brands from the above mentioned varied fields. Students will also be introduced to and will analyze various luxury brands that have made a mark on global stage.

Luxury & Culture II

This will discuss fashion evolution from 1950’s onwards until the contemporary times. Changes in silhouette shapes and fashion understanding will help them in understanding how a luxury brand defines fads and trends. Students will also understand the role of designers, celebrities, political happenings, natural calamities in defining the fashion of those times. It is very important for a luxury brand to revive itself. The collection which did well decades back should be re-launched to revive the old times. This analysis will help them in conceptualizing both product and marketing strategy while learning Luxury Brand Management as a module.

Luxury Brand Management

This module will provide the students with insights on various management strategies followed by luxury brands globally. The module will help them in analyzing the age old strategies followed by luxury brands like Ferrari, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton. This module will summarize the students’ learning from last two semesters.

Financial Management

Students will be introduced to financial models and terms to help them in analyzing the financial status of a luxury brand. The course would be facilitated using blended learning approach.

Summer Internship

After year 1, students undergo 8 week summer internship in industry.

Luxury Lifestyle & Design Management

This module will provide a 360° perspective on luxury languages, trends and expressions through a highly inspirational, design-driven and conceptual module at Domus Academy, Milan. The students will also be provided with an opportunity of being in close contact with the mature luxury market of Milan.

Luxury Retail Marketing & Management

This module will give them important insights on how to market a luxury brand, distribution systems, leasing systems, entry modes and strategies etc

E-Luxury & Digital Media

This will deal with various online strategies adopted by luxury brands in a view to foster customer engagement. The course would be facilitated using online blended approach.

Luxury PR & Advertising

This will incorporate the knowledge gained by students during first two semesters into designing a PR & Advertising strategy for a luxury brand. This will involve inputs on Media Buying, Budgeting, PR Planning, PR Strategy etc.

Luxury Project and a Global Luxury Cluster Study

This module aims to consolidate and implement the creative, technical and industrial experience in order to contribute effectively, within a broad range of inter-related career roles. This semester aims to produce a managerial, well-informed and motivated professional with the ability to analyze, synthesize and conclude various complex issues related to design, planning and technical management. The course would be facilitated using blended learning approach.

International Exposure

On successful completion of this two year PG pathway, a student is awarded with Post Graduate Diploma validated by Domus Academy, Milan. The curriculum of this course is also developed in association with Domus Academy.

All PG Pathways at Pearl have an in-built 4-week exchange module (optional) at Domus Academy, Milan. This alliance gives them the following opportunities:-

1. Get a global experience and learn latest international trends.

2. Attend workshops, visit local factories/manufacturing units and interact with the industry experts of international market.

3. Domus Academy faculty members regularly visit Pearl Academy to to instill fresh learning in the students. Apart from international expertise, these experts bring immense cultural knowledge with them.


Through such exchanges programmes, Pearl ensures that the students learn not only the technical aspects of the domain but also a new culture. In 2016, over 80 students were a part of the exchange program to Domus Academy, Milan, Italy. These students were from all 3 centers and across various PG courses like Fashion Business, Fashion Design, Interior Design & Styling, Luxury Brands, Fashion Communication, Communication Design and Fashion Styling & Image Design.

 

Other International Opportunities
