This course equips students with a broad understanding of the ever-changing fields of communication and media in a global and local context. The course encourages both individual and group approaches to creative communication solutions, ultimately paving the way for original work and diverse ideas.
The course educates its students on content development for all news media formats, with a significant focus on Online Journalism and Digital Media.
It’s a fact that the future of journalism lies in one single word – digital. This course offers a new-age digital & tech-savvy journalism & media program that also borrows the fundamentals of design – the first of its kind in the country. It has a strong focus on new media journalism, MoJo (mobile journalism), and digital communication platforms.
The undergraduate program combines theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice through industry-standard practices to complement the students’ development of scholarly skills. This includes the development of investigative, analytical, creative, and critical approaches to problem-solving.
Students will be trained to use hi-end video cameras as well as their mobile phones to create compelling and impactful news content. They will also be provided with several opportunities to attend real-life press conferences, assist senior journalists in news reporting, and participate in special workshops on reporting for sports & celebrity events. Students will learn from experienced journalists, filmmakers, television anchors, photojournalists, and other such media professionals. They will also obtain the opportunity to develop valuable connections in the industry through live industry-sponsored projects, talks from leading industry experts, and an industry internship.
