Amala Chettiar, who has been with Pearl Academy for over 7 years, currently holds the esteemed position of Associate Professor of Fashion Design at the academy. His journey in the fashion world began under the guidance of the renowned seamstress Sheroo Copper, who provided him with private tutoring in tailoring, draping, and pattern cutting.
Bringing a rich industry background, Amala has amassed 14 years of experience in the export and retail sectors, working with esteemed organisations such as Splash - Dubai, Piramyd Retail Merchandising, Steve and Barry's, Raymond, Texport Syndicates, and Creative Garments. Throughout his career, he has also shared his expertise as a teacher at various esteemed institutions, including SNDT, MODART, Whistling Woods, Symbiosis, and Wigan & Leigh.
While Amala cherishes many memorable moments in the field of fashion, his association with Pearl Academy holds a special place in his heart. The academy has not only honed his skills in cutting and draping but has also provided him with opportunities to explore sustainable fashion by collaborating with artisans in Kutch, Lucknow, and Pondicherry.
