Overview
The B.Des in Product Design is ‘project driven’ and follows a ‘hands-on’ approach that equips aspiring designers with a versatile skill set, encompassing design thinking, product innovation and design management driven by adopting cutting-edge technology. The program aims to create promising and passion-driven product designers who will be job creators in the emerging decentralized modes of mass customization of products, services and systems. Emphasizing sustainability and a global perspective, it readies graduates for the interconnected and ever-evolving IT-driven, product and service industry.
Through robust collaborations with the manufacturing and service sector, and global academia, the program ensures students are well-versed in meeting expectations of current industry trends. Furthermore, under School for Life, we foster crucial 21st-century skills such as emotional intelligence, critical thinking and financial literacy, positioning our students for success in an ever-evolving and volatile world.

Program Curriculum
Pearl’s Academy B. Des. in Product Design program equips students with skills and knowledge essential to succeeding in the dynamic and competitive fields of fashion, lifestyle, retail and more.
The Learning Mode
The B. Des. in Product Design program at Pearl is a full-time course. The curriculum is a mixture of in-person and online sessions. The in-person classes allow maximum engagement, especially given the hands-on nature of the program through our infrastructure, and collaboration with Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT) facility and Collab Therapy. The online learning often supplements their learning away from campus.

A. The Bachelor of Design (B.Des) in Product Design is an undergraduate, project-driven, hands-on program that prepares aspiring designers with a versatile skill set rooted in design thinking, product innovation, and design management. It equips students with the skills to design functional, user-friendly, and sustainable products. Through strong collaborations with industry partners and global academic institutions, students gain practical exposure aligned with current market trends.
A. B.Des. in Product Design offers diverse career paths across industries like technology, retail, healthcare, and automotive. Graduates become product, industrial, or UI/UX designers, and can also explore roles in footwear, textile, interior, graphic, or web design.
Many work as researchers, strategists, or art directors, while others launch their own studios. Pearl Academy alumni have secured jobs at T.I Cycles, Capgemini, Whirlpool, and Neelkamal, showcasing strong industry connections and placement success.
A. B.Des. in Product Design program builds skills in design thinking, prototyping, material exploration, and human-centered innovation. Students gain core expertise in Industrial Design, Interaction Design (UX/UI), Furniture Design, and Lifestyle/Accessory Design.
They also explore related areas like Textile Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Animation & VFX, and Transportation Design, enhancing product visualization, usability, and aesthetics.
A. Anyone interested in a profession in Product Design after 12th grade education, are welcome to enrol in our B. Des. in Product Design program.
To be eligible, applicants must have completed their 10+2 education and appear for Pearl Academy’s Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and General Proficiency Test (GPT), followed by a personal interview.
As part of the admission process, students are also required to submit a portfolio that showcases their creative abilities in design, drawing, and related skills.
