Program Curriculum
In our Textile Design Bachelor’s Degree program, students develop an all-round perspective on textiles, their role in the fashion and lifestyle sectors, as well as their emerging needs in other industries such as interiors and automotive. Students are also taught the technical and creative aspects of various textiles, equipping them with problem-solving and independent thinking.
Our hands-on approach addresses environmental and sustainability issues, preparing students to be creative leaders in the textile industry.
The program also encourages students to explore the merging of the digital and physical worlds, with a focus on smart textiles and the role of technology in it. The mode of learning
The B.Des. in Textile Design is a full-time program that puts hands-on learning at its core. Our course curriculum is designed to give students plenty of practical experience in the world of textile design. While most of the classes will be in person, there might be some online or hybrid sessions for group projects, industry assignments, and special masterclasses. This mix of hands-on and flexible learning ensures you get a well-rounded education that matches the dynamic nature of the textile design industry.

In the initial year, you'll explore foundational design principles, setting the stage for broader design exploration. This year aims to spark your design enthusiasm, allowing you to explore without constraints and delving into the captivating realm of textiles.
In the second year they study commercial, and wedding styling and start building their portfolios. The program concludes with research projects, preparing graduates to excel in the dynamic fashion styling industry, with expertise applicable across various mediums, from print to digital.
As you progress to the third and fourth semesters, you'll delve deeper into the intricate world of design. Guided by expert teachers, you'll master complex design theories, explore design history, principles, and elements. You'll also gain insights into fashion fabrics, interior textiles, smart textiles, and acquire practical skills in printing and embroidery. Traditional textiles and core techniques like weaving and knitting are also introduced.
Your textile knowledge is further enriched by learning how to anticipate future trends and changing industry needs, laying a solid foundation for your future.
In the fifth and sixth semesters, you'll take charge of your learning journey, delving into advanced theories and applications in areas of textile design that drives your interest. You'll explore research projects, digital technology, and craft innovation, gaining a deeper understanding of the industry's cutting-edge developments. The program also provides global exposure through the International Lab Experience (ILE), offering a broader perspective on design and culture.
Developing Professional & Life Skills becomes more critical at this stage, fostering independent thought and expression. You'll master virtual learning platforms, enabling seamless collaboration and research. This stage equips you with intermediate subject competencies and the ability to apply theoretical frameworks through practical case-based learning.
A significant component of the curriculum is the 6–8-week industry/research/start-up-linked internship. This immersive experience bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world projects, sharpening your ability to ideate and execute projects beyond campus boundaries.
In the final stages of your educational journey, during the seventh and eighth semesters, you'll elevate your knowledge to new heights in Core Major Specialism subjects. Here, you'll have the opportunity to independently explore, manipulate, and apply complex concepts and theories, culminating in conclusive and relevant solutions. Engaging in research papers, case studies, discussions, and group activities will enhance your understanding of various industry streams and product lines. The course also focuses on honing your knowledge of business systems and processes within the fashion and textile industry.

Students looking to pursue textile courses after 12th can apply to Pearl Academy's Textile Design Technology program.Those who have a strong interest in textiles, fashion, and design, and who are interested in pursuing a career in the textile and fashion industry, may find this course to be a suitable option.
- Candidates must have completed their 10+2 years of schooling, and submit the necessary certificates for the same.
- They must attend the entrance examination for Pearl Academy, consisting of two parts - the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and General Proficiency Test (GPT) as part of the admission process. This is followed by a personal interview round.
- Applicants are also required to submit a portfolio of their creative work showcasing their skills and abilities in design, drawing and other related areas.
Based on their performance in the above rounds and clearing eligibility criteria, they may join the Textile Design Technology course at Pearl Academy.
