Introduction
The 11-Month Short-Term Certificate Course in Digital Photography is an industry orientated portfolio driven program in Studio fashion and Outdoor Photography designed to power students to become skilled professionals in the Media industry. This program provides strong foundation in DSLR camera tools and studio lighting along with photography techniques which will help student master the cutting-edge technique which is used in Photography and media industry. The learning outcome is a high-quality Portfolio Images showcasing the students indoor and outdoor photography skills.
Formerly taught at FX School, this course is now offered by Pearl Academy.
Basic Photography:
- Introduction to DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras
- Understanding different settings to get correct exposure in picture. (Shutter speed, Aperture, ISO)
- Introduction to lenses
- Different composition Rules and Guidelines in photography
- White Balance, Filters, and Metering Modes
- Outdoor Photo Walk
- Introduction to Camera Raw plugins and basic Colour Correction in Raw
- Single Light theory which explains the importance of light and shadow in photography, followed by single light practical
- Low Key lighting, 3 lights and 6 lights setup on black background
- Introduction to Product Photography
- Introduction to photoshop layout and selection tools
- Photoshop blending modes and intro to adjustment layers
- Recap and Submission
Studio Photography:
- Introduction to Fashion and Portrait Photography
- Studio High Key Photography. Variations of High Key Photography. (White on White, Low key on White, Gel Lighting)
- Importance of speedlight for all genres of Photography. Speedlight Settings. Balancing speedlight with Indoor ambient light. Outdoor Fashion Speedlight Session
- Beauty Dish with multiple-coloured backgrounds
- Multi Exposure, Double Exposure, Stroboscopic Photography
- Fashion Product Photography (Watches, Handbags, Shoes, Sunglasses, Perfumes etc)
- Food Photography – Food Levitation and cinemograph
- Still Life Photography
- Realistic Fashion Retouching using High Pass method
- Background Clean up and Background replacement. Creating shadows in photoshop.
- 1 group shoot and 2 individual shoots
- Submissions
Outdoor Photography:
- Black and white photography
- Outdoor Portrait Photography, Capturing moods and expressions
- Macro Photography. Working distance and magnification
- Architectural and Landscape Photography
- Wedding Photography. Usage of Speedlight and Flash Lighting in small and large interiors
- Introduction to Photojournalism. Importance of Photojournalism
- Introduction to lightroom. Various presets in lightroom
- Introduction to colour correction using various adjustment layers for outdoor photography in photoshop.
- Sports Photography
- Travel Photography
- Indoor Levitation Photography and Cinemograph
Professional Portfolio Project:
- Introduction to Capture One and Light Meter. Creating Commercial Lighting
- Introduction to other light modifiers such as Octa Box
- Introduction to continuous light and ambient light. Optical Spot Lighting
- Advance Retouching Techniques using Frequency Separation and Blend If
- Guest Lecture – Understanding Business in Fashion Photography
- Mood Board for Styling and photography
- FPP Shoot 01 – Beauty Shoot with 3 looks. Highlighting Hair, Face, Lips, Eyes, Jewellery
- FPP Shoot 02 – Fashion Shoot with 3 looks. Autumn Winter, Spring Summer, Fashion Accessories
- FPP Shoot 03 – Swim Suit and Fantasy Look
- Review and Selection of the Images
- Final Editing
Applicants seeking admission to the Photography Course must be a minimum of 17 years old and have successfully completed Class X from any recognized educational board.
