The 2-years long PG Course for non-media background students, coming from any graduation other than media and communication related fields: PG Diploma in Media & Communication (Level 1 Basic Diploma in Year 1, and Level 2 Specialized Professional Diploma in one of the three pathways in Year 2)

These two years long PG Diploma courses have the first year as a common course for all applicants coming from non-media background to a well rounded introduction to the world of media and communication for them. And, thereafter, they enter into the second year with one of the three specialization selected through an informed choice.

In the first year, over two semesters, all post-graduating students, irrespective of the specialization they take individually, are exposed to each of these eight areas in details with 60+ hours of teaching and one to two projects/ major assignments on each: (A) Visual Communication; (B) Communication Theory, Models & Media Laws; (C) Media Research & Applications; (D) Multi-media Content Development; (E) Multi-media Audio & Visual Production; (F) Consumer Behaviour Insights & Audience Measurement Techniques; (G) Integrated Brand & Marketing Communication; and (H) Digital Communication & Marketing

At the end of the first year, students decide to take one of three given specialization areas and go deeper in that chosen area.


The three Specialization areas in some details are as follows:

(A) Journalism: This is a high end focused multi-media journalism course based on convergence and bringing in new media strongly along with print and electronic journalism. This provides for learning technical and conceptual skills to produce stories across all media: offline (print), online (web), on air (radio and TV) and on mobile (news app based).

The areas covered in details are as follows: Electronic News Gathering & Producing for TV & Radio & Documentary Films; Digital & Mobile Journalism; Media Convergence; Fashion & Lifestyle; Photo Journalism; Media entrepreneurship; and Investigative Reporting, apart from Development Communication

(B) Entertainment: This course provides for concepts and production skills for entertainment across television, film, radio and web, even including live entertainment. The audio, video, scripting and producing skills are covered across these media to produce an entertainment product. Entertainment business aspects are also introduced strongly.

The areas covered in details in this domain are the following: Radio & TV Entertainment Production; Social Media & Media Convergence; Web Entertainment Production; Fashion & Lifestyle, Stage Craft, Theatre, Design Thinking, Media Entrepreneurship; and Film Studies, Cinema Production & Development Communication.

(C) Brand Communication: This course helps a learner evolve into a Brand Professional using all forms of media platforms (online, offline, on air, on ground and on mobile) to communicate brands and market them effectively. Communication tools covered are advertising, public relations, events, digital branding & marketing, and direct marketing communication.

The areas covered in details in this domain are the following: Brand Management and Tracking the Life-cycle of a Brand; Digital Branding & Social Media Marketing; Media Convergence; Fashion & Lifestyle Communication; Advertising Management, Media Entrepreneurship; Events, Marketing Communication & Branded Content; and Public Relations, Corporate & Development Communication.

As for industry faculty, they are the same as noted under 1-year PG courses.

International Opportunities

The curriculum has been developed in association with Domus Academy. All PG Pathways at Pearl have an in-built 4-week exchange module (optional) at Domus Academy. This alliance gives following opportunities to students:-

  • Get a global experience and learn latest international trends.
  • Attend workshops, visit local factories/manufacturing units and interact with the industry experts of international market.
  • Domus Academy faculty members regularly visit Pearl Academy to instill fresh learning in the students. Apart from international expertise, these experts bring immense cultural knowledge with them.
  • Through such exchanges programmes, Pearl ensures that the students learn not only the technical aspects of the domain but also a new culture. In 2016, over 80 students were a part of the exchange program to Domus Academy, Milan, Italy. These students were from all 3 centers and across various PG courses like Fashion Business, Fashion Design, Interior Design & Styling, Luxury Brands, Fashion Communication, Communication Design and Fashion Styling & Image Design.
